Sonoco Origen

Sonoco is a leading global supplier of packaging solutions who tasked our agency with the naming, design, and building of an account-based marketing plan for the launch of their new product.

About the Project

Sonoco approached our team with the task of defining the name and brand identity, as well as the design of a direct mailer campaign for their latest packaging solution. This identity needed to be robust and flexible for Sonoco’s new product that is extensible across organic, greenfield, and acquisition driven growth. Additionally, the direct mailer campaign needed to influence grower perception and support to achieve the the client’s vision.

Initial research involved client interviews and competitive research, in order to distill key naming criteria to inform ideation. From there, we utilized word association to generate possible naming directions before honing in on two possible options, which were then supplemented by additional research and mood boards. The chosen name was “Origen” – a fabricated rooted in horticulture as well as a nod to new beginnings and growth. The accompanying visual identity draws inspiration from natural elements like soil, water, sun, and plants to create a brand that melds tradition with modern innovation.

The result was an adoption of our team’s proposed naming schematic and visual identity for Sonoco’s new product, as well as delivery of brand guidelines, creative assets, and final designs for the production of B2B marketing touch points.
